Shanghai Snapshots

Today we went out to the fabric market with some friends. Each time I go there I wind up seeing more thngs that I like. I don't have an addictive personality, but I have a feeling that this will turn into an addiction. Afterwards we went to the old part of Shanghai. It was a starck contrast to things we have seen thus far. This image pretty much summarizes Shanghai. The new modern buildings are rapidly taking over the older parts of the city. I wish that the developers had decided to keep more of the older structures. The architecture is really interesting. I'll post some more images of the "Old City" a bit later on. We quickly passed through the area today while we were looking for antique stores. We'll be going back there soon. Hopefully the photos will be better than the ones I took today. In the meantime, here are some other shots of the city. Anyone in the mood for a mountain/volcano of bizarre looking sweets?
